Role Title:                   Inkjet Web Printing Machine Operator – Treble Shift

 

About the Role:

Based at our Norwich production premises you will be one of the lead operators on the Inkjet Web Printing Press producing high quality printed work for onward finishing within the Page Bros Production Department.

Hours:                         37 hours per week, on a treble shift pattern:

Early

05:30 – 13:30 (Mon to Thurs)

05:30 – 10:30 (Fri)

 

Late

13:30 – 21:30 (Mon to Thurs)

10:30 – 15:30 (Fri)

 

Night

21:30 – 05:30 (Mon to Thurs)

15:30 – 20:30 (Fri)

 

Role Overview:

You will be the operator of the Inkjet Web Printing machine producing short to medium run high quality products within the Page Bros Production Department. Full training will be given.

You will be responsible for ensuring jobs are printed within set deadlines, maintain the press to a high standard. You will follow the company’s quality control procedures, identifying any non-conforming goods and keeping your work area clean and tidy.

You will be able to work methodically and have excellent problem-solving skills. In time and with appropriate development and training, become the ‘go-to person’ to train and advise others in specialist knowledge.

 

Role Purpose 1 – Machine Operation/Productivity

Set-up and run the Inkjet Web Printing Machine (and other equipment as required) using a minimum amount of waste to produce the highest quality product as efficiently as the job and machinery will permit. You will be required to monitor and minimise downtime whilst also improving running speeds.

Ensure all work is correctly labelled and properly presented to the next colleague in the workflow, providing any relevant notes or additional information required for them to effectively carry out their duties.

Communicate any changes over and above those detailed on the job bag to the production manager.

 

Role Purpose 2 – Housekeeping

Ensure a high standard of housekeeping paying particular attention to your immediate work area, ensuring floor is swept, area is free of debris and machines and surfaces are wiped over and cleaned on a regular basis.

Carry out maintenance where possible or report any breakdowns machine issues to the shift production manager to escalate the problem to either in-house maintenance or call in a Field Service Engineer.

Create and develop a preventative maintenance plan with your line manager, carrying out and recording all routine maintenance.

Assist your colleagues during quieter times to improve the appearance of the factory and ensure a professional environment is created and maintained.

 

Role Purpose 3 – Quality & Standards

Identify and report quality concerns, seeking advice and guidance from your line managers and other operators to troubleshoot problems to avoid spoilages and create the best possible product for our clients.

Maintain accurate quality and production records using Prolog, Imprint and other bespoke or standard reporting and time logging systems.

Seek constant improvement and apply best practice to all aspects of your role, attending and fully participating in training and required.

Abide by and support the company’s ISO 9001 Quality Certificate.

 

Role Purpose 4 – Team Working & Flexibility

Assist your colleagues as directed by your line manager to meet manufacturing deadlines by working on alternative production equipment (suitable to your skills and training) and other areas of the business as required.

Be open and flexible to provide additional capacity to cover holidays and other absence by working overtime offered where possible.

Abide by and support the company’s ISO 14001 environment certificate. Ensure the secure disposal of wastepaper and plates in line with company policy and procedures.

Adhere to Page Bros procedures and polices as detailed in your Staff Handbook and associated Terms and Conditions.

Ensure that all activities for which you are responsible are completed to a high standard.

Attend team meetings and One to Ones as requested by your line manager. Take active responsibility for personal and professional growth and development within the role. This will include the identification of training and other developmental opportunities at regular review meetings and through ongoing dialogue with your line manager.
